Durga Puja was celebrated in the uncanniest way in Kolkata this year due to the spread of Covid 19. To contain the pandemic, people were restricted from entering puja pandals. Some people decided to stay at home with family, while some ventured out to attend only the local colony pujas. However, the tough times couldn’t deter the spirited Kumartuli artisans from creating masterpieces. A couple of artisans in Kolkata came up with this novel idea of creating an asura (demon) that takes after the Corona virus. Coronasur, as they named it, is an ominous force plaguing the society currently and the artisans created the idol to imply the victory of Goddess Durga over the evil.
