Prasidh Krishna has been hailed as a “thinking cricketer” by Former KKR bowling coach Heath Streak in the past. We have proof. KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik, who had stunned many by handing the ball over to the Karnataka lad during the super over against Delhi Capitals last year, said at the post-match press conference, “I think Prasidh has been bowling consistently for us at the death, it was a straight forward decision to make.”
No wonder, his consistency grabbed the eye balls of India captain Virat Kohli, who singled out the 23-year-old for his contribution in the domestic circuit and hinted at him being a possible ‘surprise package’ going into the T20I World Cup in Australia next year.
Prasidh got into a habit of taking regular wickets and caught everyone’s attention during Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2018. The lanky pacer bagged 17 wickets in 8 matches, becoming the second-highest wicket-taker. Quite surprisingly, he scalped equal number of wickets from the same number of matches in 2019 as well. His fifer (5-19) against Saurashtra in a group match of the 2019 edition is one of the highlights of his career.
He has been clocking the 140kmph mark effectively and has yorkers up his sleeves which, when delivered at a speed beyond 140kmph, can be quite lethal to the batsmen. Apart from the speed factor, his height (6’2”) that helps him extract extra bounce from the pitch also adds to the list of X-factors.
