Jamaican all-rounder Andre Russell received a nasty blow on his helmet during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United on Friday. The explosive batsman had to be stretchered off the ground for medical attention later on in the game.

It was in the 14th over of the Gladiators innings when a bouncer from Muhammad Musa took Russell by surprise and hit his helmet while he was trying to pull it away. Prior to that, Russell had pummelled Musa for a couple of consecutive sixes.

After the blow, Russell received treatment by the on-ground medical team and resumed batting. However, he couldn't last long as he edged one in the very next ball.

Later on, he was stretchered off to an ambulance before the second innings (of Islamabad United) could start. He was replaced by fast bowler Naseem Shah under the concussion-sub rule.
