12th May 2018 holds a special place in the hearts of Kolkata Knight Riders fans.

The 44th league match of IPL 11 featuring Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and the Kolkata Knight Riders witnessed history rewritten as the Knights carved their way into the record books by registering their highest ever score (245/6) in the tournament's history.

After being asked to bat first, the opening pair of Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine started the innings in a commanding fashion.

Displaying an array of strokes, Narine was at his brutal best as he notched up his half-century in 26 balls. Targetting the straight boundaries down the ground, the Trinidadian scored 75 off 36 deliveries with nine fours and four sixes to lay a solid foundation for his side.

Interestingly, ahead of this much-anticipated clash, the management had organised a team bonding session to help the team relax and rejuvenate before this massive encounter. Why?

The boys in Purple and Gold set foot into this all-important clash on the back of two consecutive losses vs Mumbai Indians, which had put their tall at five wins and six losses in 11 games till that point.

The get-together seemed to have helped the Knights, with the players stepping onto the field with an aim to get their IPL campaign back on track. With the Holkar stadium packed to capacity and a place in the playoffs at stake, the Knights bounced back in an emphatic fashion to enthral millions of their fans with a scintillating display of batsmanship.

This day marked a new beginning for the team as they registered a comprehensive 31 run win over Punjab, paving their way to an eventual third-place finish in the tournament that season.
