The wait to see our Knights back in action is going to get over in a matter of a few more days. Our squad has assembled in Mumbai ahead of their flight to the UAE where the remainder of IPL 2021 is scheduled to be played from September 19.
The boys in Purple and Gold looked all upbeat ahead of their brief quarantine in the city. Even though Kolkata Knight Riders have had a below-par first half of the IPL, winning just two matches out of seven, our Knights are confident of repeating a 2014-like show, where we fought back gallantly from a similar situation to win the title.
"The first half didn't go our way that doesn't mean this half won't go our way. If in 2014 we have written history then I don't think why we can't write history now again" sheldon Jackson said, as he checked in.
Kuldeep Yadav, who was returning after his international duty against Sri Lanka, said, "Break is something that's good for a team, specially because we didn't have the momentum in the first half. This is a good opportunity for us."
Nitish Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy, who got their first international caps in the Sri Lanka series, oozed confidence of a better show in this half of IPL.
Varun felt "in the coming seasons we can have this year as a reference" when it comes to making successful comebacks.
Youngster Venkatesh Iyer felt the break has given the team a cushion to retrospect and fix the problems. "We have a cushion. We now know how to go about our games and that nothing is impossible. Cricket is a game where anything can happen, specially in this format," he said.
