Chennai Super Kings, after a two-year gap, were welcomed wholeheartedly by the fans of Kolkata, and the crowd at the iconic Eden Gardens. The stands for the first time were yellowed to a great extent, and showed support to the visiting team, and no doubt to ‘thala’ MS Dhoni.
But that warmth feeling soon turned hostile. Not from the stands, but right between that 22-yards strip. 18-year-old Shubman Gill along with his skipper, Dinesh Karthik, took Kolkata Knight Riders home with a convincing win over the visitors. Here’s how Twitterati reacted to our mighty win over Chennai Super Kings:
First and foremost, we have King Khan. While congratulating KKR, SRK called DK a calm character and young Mavi and Gill his babies and didn’t miss to mention the MoM Narine.
Calm & collected win like Captain @Dineshkarthik himself & my babies gaining in every match @realshubmangill @shivammavi23 &Narine is Narine

Former Indian cricketer, Mohammad Kaif also acknowledge the clever captaincy of DK and just like most of cricket fraternity considers him one for the future.
Very smart captaincy by DK today. Great idea to have the spinners bowl the last 3 overs and some wonderful timing with the bat from him. Was a delight to watch Shubman Gill bat and he looks destined for bigger things. @KKRiders are peaking well and its good to see #KKRvCSK

There was one who wasn’t too happy last night. Yes, it was Sanjay Manjrekar himself. Not for any cricketing reasons, but he just couldn’t get to watch Shubman’s innings.
Saw Shubman Gill briefly in the under 19s. Loved his style of batting. Good to see him come good today. Missed his batting, was on flight.😔#KKRvCSK

Harsha saw it! He enjoyed it! And can’t wait to see more of it!
I will be seeing a lot of Shubman Gill in the years ahead. And I will enjoy what I will see. Special.

Cricket expert, Ayaz Memon in his detailed tweet called Shubman Gill strokes something for T20 and the move of promoting him at the top order, the turning point of the match.
Shubhman Gill has purity of strokes that may look out of place in T20. But it's fantastic to watch and also producing runs. Promoting him in batting order may just be the X factor KKR needed to ensure place in play-offs
