Varun reaped massive dividends for his accuracy and consistency in our league match against the Delhi at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. This was his maiden five-wicket haul in IPL, which eventually helped KKR register an emphatic 59-run win.

A commanding batting display by Nitish Rana (81) and Sunil Narine (64) guided the boys in Purple and Gold to 194 runs in their 20 overs.
In reply, the Capital struggled against the variations of Varun and lost wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs. He picked up the vital wicket of Rishabh Pant to break a solid 63-run stand for the third wicket and dent the run chase.
The 29-year old wreaked havoc with crucial wickets of Shimron Hetmyer, Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis in the middle overs. The Capitals failed to recover from the setbacks and fell short by a considerable margin.
A clinical performance from the team helped us consolidate our place in the top half of the table.
