The young Indian contingent will lock horns with Sri Lanka in the first of the three One Day International matches at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo starting 18th July.

Under the watchful eyes of Rahul Dravid, the new-look Indian squad for this white ball series led by Shikhar Dhawan will feature in three ODIs and as many T20I fixtures.

In a pre-match press conference, Bhuvneshwar Kumar shared insights on having Rahul Dravid as the coach of the side and his experience with the legend.

"It has been really good. We spent 14 days of quarantine in Mumbai, so after seven days, we were out for our training and the gym. What he has done so far is that he has kept things really simple and didn't try to make them complicated. There are young guys, senior guys, and everyone is listening to him and whatever he is planning. It has been a good experience, and like I said, he never tried to make things complicated,” he said.

"When things are really simple, you enjoy those things and that's been the case in the last month and I am sure, once the matches, there will be a planning part and the strategy part where we will get to learn more from him," he further added.

With the conditions expected to be conducive for spin bowling, the vice-captain of the Indian side backed Kuldeep Yadav to do well in the series. “He has done well in the practice matches we have played or in the nets going on. What I have seen of him is that he is confident. I am sure if he does well in this series, he will be very confident of doing well in the IPL or the World Cup. The way he's bowling in the nets, I am sure he will do well in this series, " he concluded.
