With great power comes great responsibility. That's what uncle Ben told Peter Parker in the Marvel movie Spider-Man.

When Dinesh Karthik was named the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders for VIVO IPL 2018, some argued about the decision. After just a couple of losses - against CSK and SRH - there was a buzz on the topic again, questioning DK's role as the skipper.

In India, it takes a lot of time and hard work to become a cricket star, while just a loss or two can make you the villain overnight. DK as a skipper, has been critical of his team’s performances, but has backed every member, especially the young ones, to come good at some stage. After the debacle against DD in Delhi, the team turned around in the match against RCB in Bengaluru.

“I've felt that you need to trust the players that are part of the XI. They're great kids (Mavi and Gill) and they're learning, they have good things to talk, lots of credit goes to Rahul (Dravid) as well, they have good things to say about him,” DK said during the post-match presentation.

Chris Lynn, who didn’t have an ideal start to this season, came out as a match winner against RCB in Bengaluru. After some experimentations against SRH at Eden Gardens, DK and the team decided to return to the Lynn-Narine opening combination for KKR. DK himself has been leading the group by example by being among the runs (235 runs, Avg. 39.16).

We will be facing Chennai Super Kings on May 3, followed by Mumbai Indians for two back-to-back matches (May 6 and May 9).

"Nothing too special about where we are, nothing bad about being in the middle of the table, we need to use some momentum from here," added DK when asked about 4 wins & 4 losses in the 8 games played so far.

The fans trust DK to do a good job. It’s time to even the scores against CSK at Eden Gardens. The entire team is ready for the big match. We hope you are too! KKR Hai Taiyaar!
