Shubman Gill has earned his maiden call-up for India’s three-Test series against South Africa at home. The All India Senior Selection Committee met in New Delhi earlier today (Thursday) to name the 15-member squad for the series starting October 2.
20-year old Shubman was in contention for India's senior team for quite some time now. While he didn't get the nod for the Windies tour, the good news was only a matter of time away.
Gill was the highest run-scorer (218 runs) for India A that played Windies A in unofficial ODI series. He was also named the man of the series in India A's 4-1 series win. Shubman continued his run of form in 4-day format and scored 204* during the same tour and became the youngest to score a double hundred for India A.
The young Knight was asked to lead India Blue in Duleep Trophy and for India A against South Africa A in 1st of two unofficial Test series.
Shubman recently said goodbye to his teenage days. We wish him all the best and expect him to score loads of runs in the longest form of the game. Go hard Shubman! You have earned it. Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo!
