Well, our Knight Shubman Gill chose cricket over anything else at a very young age. Bat and ball became his favourite toys and at 19 years of age, Punjab born Gill already had Seven 100s and Nineteen 50s to his name in all forms of cricket (excluding age group cricket).
Playing in only his second Vivo IPL season, young Shubman Gill scored three impressive half-centuries while playing as an opener. From opening the innings to batting at number 7, the right-hander has done it all (except batting at no. 5) for the team.
On the night of Vivo Indian Premier League 2019 final, Shubman Gill was adjudged as the ‘Emerging Player’ of the season. Here are a few factors that we think made Shubman the best choice of the lot:
Age Factor
He's ONLY 19, and this season Shubman became the first teenager to hit four 50s as a teenager. He showed a lot of promise and maturity to play long innings and not just throw his wicket away. With plenty of shots in his arsenal, Shubman has got it all to make it big.
2018 vs 2019
Shubman made his IPL debut last year. A match-winning fifty (vs CSK) was added by other valuable contributions, the then 18-year old made a lot of noise when he first came into the picture. He scored 203 runs at an average of 33.83 that season and the pundits got talking about him.
The right-hander raised his game and this year scored 296 runs with three half-centuries. He's RISING and will not be looking to stop anytime soon.
An improved cricketer with a bright future
It's not just the talent, his knocks in IPL 2019 showed a lot of maturity and played as per the role he was given. So, from hitting those two sixes in the last three balls of the innings against SRH in the opening match to taking KKR to a massive total of 232 against MI at Eden Gardens, our Knight delivered on the big occasions. He is expected to do well in years to come, both at domestic and at international level.
