Shreyas Iyer scored a terrific half-century in the 5th T20I against Australia in Bengaluru to steer India to a win. On a pitch where everyone struggled, Shreyas stood tall and scored with a lot of intent and immaculate timing. Wickets kept falling at the other end, but he kept the attack on from one end. 53 of 37 balls at a strike-rate of 143.24, he kept India in the game. He scored some sensational shots in his stay and the six over mid-off upstaged everything else.

The ball did not seem to come onto bat nicely, while there was an awkward bounce in the pitch. However, Shreyas adapted and adjusted quickly and kept the scoreboard ticking. He established a great partnership with Axar and took India to a fighting total of 160 which in the end proved to be a winning score. With this innings, Shreyas displayed a lot of experience and composure. Moreover, his leadership skills as the Vice-captain also proved to be resourceful for the team, as Skipper Surya mentioned in the post-match interview, the importance of his insights on the field for crucial decisions.
