On the first of this month read about the first season of our young Knight Shivam Mavi.

Coming on to the big stage after a successful U-19 World Cup Campaign, Shivam’s ability to generate fierce pace attracted a lot of attention.

Shivam made his IPL debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad in our 3rd match of the season, he managed to bowl only 1 over and score 7 runs. Shivam made his mark in his second game against Delhi Daredevils at Eden Gardens by dismissing the former Skipper of the Knights. He impressed everyone with figures of 2 overs, 14 runs and 1 wicket. He had a mediocre run in the next 2 games conceding 69 runs in 7 overs and picking up 1 wicket.

Mavi was hoping for a change in fortunes as we went up against Delhi Daredevils at Feroz Shah Kotla. Mavi started well as he got the initial breakthrough for us by dismissing Colin Munro. But his figures were ruined by the carnage created by Shreyas Iyer’s 29 runs 20th over.

"At this stage even if he gets hit, it's a learning experience for him. If we start protecting him, he's never going to grow."

- Dinesh Karthik on Shivam Mavi after DD vs KKR

Dinesh Karthik is a Skipper who likes to back his players and Shivam made his comeback in the next game against RCB conceding only 21 runs in 3 overs.

Shivam gave us a glimmer of hope by striking a boundary in our must-win qualifier game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Shivam would look to improve on his game in the domestic circuit and come back stronger with the ball and bat for the next season.
