What if we say that on Sunday (April 29) night at M. Chinnaswamy stadium, all the KKR fans and those who are following the VIVO IPL 2018 are going to have another cracker of a match? A lot will agree. There are plenty of reasons behind such notion. First being, we are playing at Chinnaswamy Stadium and second being it’s just Chinnaswamy Stadium!
Kolkata Knight Riders will play Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru tonight (April 29) and the match can be nothing less than a battle between the Avengers and Thanos.
A stadium with a history of being batsmen’s paradise. You don’t get to see many fours here, and you don’t have to. Why go classy when you have the SWAG of sending the ball into the stands, second tiers or one above. Here are few reasons why KKR is one step ahead for this Sunday’s blockbuster against RCB.
Narine's menace!
Oh here we go again. Last time we played RCB in Bengaluru, he took RCB bowlers apart and scored the (then) fastest 50 in IPL off 15 balls. He did the same in our first match of IPL 2018 and smashed 17-ball half-century. He doesn’t call himself an opening batsmen material, but he can do the job!
He has the best strike-rate in powerplay in IPL 2018. With the SR of 203, he tops the table where KXIP’s opener KL Rahul stands at number 2.
Red-hot Russell!
We know Dre-Russ’ ability to strike hard when it matters the most. The Jamaican is in some form in this season’s IPL. With so many big-hitters in all 8 franchises, our Knight is above everyone with his strike-rate (min 100 runs) of 205.0 in IPL 2018 being the highest. He’s followed by DJ Bravo and AB de Villiers.
Who's gonna take over, Dre Russ or ABD?
Watch out for the ball, as it’s going to travel into the stands more than ever in tonight’s match. With 23 sixes each, both Andre Russell and Mr. 360 degree will look to come on top with the bat. Chris Gayle also has 23 sixes in this IPL to his name.
Just give the ball to Nitish Rana
Nitish Rana had two bad days with the bat in as many matches. But he’s a go-to man for our skipper with the ball. To get the wicket of top players like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers can be any bowler’s dream. Well, our Knight took just one over to remove both batsmen last time we played RCB. He has the best balls (nearly 5 balls for every wicket) per dismissals in IPL 2018.
