The Indian domestic season (Ranji Trophy) is getting intense with each passing round. All the eyes were on the India v Sri Lanka Test series but our Knights fared well as they proved their significance for their respective teams.
Manish Pandey (Karnataka):
The Karnataka batsman, played his second Ranji match of this season as he took all the limelight after notching up his highest first-class score. Manish scored a dazzling 238 in the first innings against Uttar Pradesh. His brilliant double ton consisted 31 fours and 2 sixes, which came at a healthy strike rate of 79.07. The flamboyant middle-order batsman was also declared the Man of the Match for his marvellous effort. Karnataka have now qualified for the quarter-finals.
Robin Uthappa (Saurashtra):
In reply to Kerala's 225 in the first innings, the classy opener amassed a splendid 86 that included 10 fours & 5 sixes. The target of 375 daunted Saurashtra's hopes as Robbie only managed to score 12 runs in the second innings with his team getting bundled out for 95. Overall, he is having a good domestic season as runs are flowing like water from his blade.
Piyush Chawla (Gujarat):
The leggie is just like fine wine, which gets better with age. So far, Piyush Chawla is holding on the second spot in the bowlers list after plucking 31 wickets in just 5 games. He bowled tight lines in the first innings against Rajasthan, where he picked up 1 wicket giving away 26 runs from 8 overs. In the second innings, he got his due as he ended up with brilliant figures of 3/80. Gujarat won the match by an innings and 107 runs.
