Five years ago, this day marked a glorious chapter in the history of Bangladesh Cricket as Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah carved their way into the record books by registering the highest partnership of 224 runs for their team.
This record-breaking stand helped the Bangladesh side register a five-wicket win over New Zealand at Cardiff in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

A combined batting performance by the Black Caps guided them to 265 runs for the loss of eight wickets after electing to bat first.
Chasing 266 runs for the win, Bangladesh were tottering at 33 for four wickets. However, the duo steadied the ship by accumulating the ones and twos to get their eye in the run chase.
The southpaw recorded his half-century off 62 balls to get the scoreboard moving. With plenty of support from Mahmudullah at the other end, Shakib displayed an array of stroke play to reach a well compiled hundred off 111 balls.
However, the remarkable innings came to an end 12 runs shy from the winning total courtesy of a full-length delivery by Trent Boult. His splendid knock of 114 runs off 115 balls with 11 boundaries, and one colossal maximum helped the team script an incredible win by five wickets.
The defeat also shattered New Zealand's hopes of making it to the knockout stages of this high voltage competition.
