On this day in 2012, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai witnessed a magical spell of spin bowling from Sunil Narine in Match 65 of the Indian Premier League featuring Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders.

With eight wins in the 14 league matches until this point, KKR stepped onto the field with an aim to win and secure a place in the playoff against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. With a modest total of 140 runs to defend and the dew expected to play a crucial role, the task was cut out for the bowling unit of the Knight Riders in the second innings. 

However, Sunil Narine produced one of the magical spells of spin bowling to bamboozle the opposition with four wickets and help the team register a famous win. Narine began the proceedings by producing a peach of a delivery to scalp the prized wicket of Sachin Tendulkar on the last ball of the 11th over.

He further wreaked havoc at the Wankhede Stadium with his consistency and variations to dent the opposition by picking two crucial wickets in a single over, including the wicket of Rohit Sharma at the back end of the innings.

Narine was adjudged the player of the match for his exploits of four wickets for 15 runs in 3.1 overs that helped the team bundle out Mumbai Indians for 108 runs.
