We are in Mohali for our penultimate league game this season, against Kings XI Punjab. Here are the interesting numbers to watch out for tonight.

Ninth heaven for Knights?: Our record against KXIP speaks for itself with 8 wins in as many games between 2014 & 2017. This also includes the memorable IPL 2014 final in Bangalore. This is the joint best record for consecutive victories by one side against the other in IPL (Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Delhi Daredevils on 8 successive occasions from 2011 to 2015) In the scenario of a victory for the Knights tonight, it will not be a new IPL record in this category but also our ninth win this season.

3000 club awaits a new member: Skipper, Gautam Gambhir will be hopeful of repeating his heroics (72*) against KXIP from the previous encounter at Eden earlier this season. He needs another 38 runs to reach 3000 runs as a Kolkata Knight Riders player, the highest by a captain for a single franchise in the IPL. If  Gambhir manages to do so, he will surpass MS Dhoni’s total of 2986 for Chennai Super Kings.

Robin, the run machine: Our consistent Knight, Robin Uthappa has been in good form & has been hitting the ball well this season. He needs 57 runs to score 5500 runs in T20 games.

The Coulter-Attack: Nathan Coulter-Nile has been sensational for us taking 11 wickets from six games & winning the Man of the Match twice this season. The Aussie Knight needs 1 wicket to complete 100 scalps in T20 cricket.

The Face-offs: Our speedster, Umesh Yadav has got the better of the KXIP captain, Glenn Maxwell on 3 occasions in the 5 times they have faced each other.

Man of the Match from the previous game, Sunil Narine has been impressive against Martin Guptill having dismissed him 3 times in 7 matches at an average of 6.3.

Powerplay Big Hitters: We continue to score runs heavily at the top this season and lead the chart when it comes to the highest run rate (9.9) in Powerplay overs.
