KKR vs SRH, Match 2 of Vivo IPL 2019 will go down in history as one of the best run chases by any team in IPL. There was enough drama and tension that kept both teams in the game for the entire 40 overs. In the end, Andre Russell and Shubman Gill managed to chase 53 runs in 16 balls - best any IPL team has scored in the last three overs of a run chase.
Here are a few more key achievements from the match:
4500 in T20s - Andre Russell
The madness we all love, the fireworks that he brings every time he swings. Dre Russ single-handedly won us the match with his sheer power and in the process also crossed the 4,500 run mark in T20 cricket.
7 wins in last 7 season openers
The team has reached new heights over the years. It's been our consistent performances that has helped us reach the playoffs in six out of the last eight seasons. Setting the tone for the campaign right from the first match, KKR has won every IPL opener in the last seven seasons.
Lockie Ferguson - Our no. 100
Lockie made his debut in purple and gold. He became the 100th player to debut for KKR in IPL. The Kiwi was out of luck and went wicketless last night, but we know what he's capable of when in full flow.
Third highest chase vs SRH
Sunrisers Hyderabad had an exceptional record of defending any sort of target last season. Things definitely changed at Eden Gardens last night as we registered the third biggest chase against SRH. Their stand-in skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar also had a match to forget. From 0 for 16 in three he finished his spell with 0 for 37 runs with a costly 19th over.
DK's 500 for KKR
Both behind the wickets and with the bat, it wasn't the best day in office for Skipper DK. He scored two runs and completed 500 runs for KKR. The entire season is ahead of us and we can't wait for him to raise his bat towards the pavilion in matches to come.
