In an epic clash, the table-toppers Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Delhi Capitals by 3 runs in the Super Over. Kagiso Rabada held his nerves after conceding a boundary from the first ball as KKR failed to score 11 runs from the Super Over.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and asked KKR to bat first. Sunil Narine couldn't make it to the playing eleven due to injury. Nikhil Naik made his debut for KKR and opened the innings with Chris Lynn as KKR fielded only 3 foreign players.

It was a slow start for KKR as wickets went down at a regular interval. Nikhil was the first one to go. Uthappa scored a couple of glorious boundaries before misreading a slower one and found himself plumb LBW.

Lynn had a good start but got dismissed off Rabada's bowling with a brilliant catch behind the wickets by Rishabh Pant. Nitish Rana got dismissed two balls later. Shubman lost his ground in an unfortunate runout and the score was reading 61 for 5 after 9.1 overs.

All came down to Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell. The pair not only rescued the tumbling KKR's innings but put them into a comfortable position in the end. The pair added 95 runs from 53 balls for 6th wicket and helped KKR reach 185/8 after 20 overs. Both, DK and Russell scored 50s and put KKR in a good position at the break.

During the chase, the home team got off to a flying start with Dhawan and Shaw in the middle. Piyush Chawla was introduced in the third over and got the all-important wicket of Shikhar Dhawan.

Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw took their time to settle in before going berserk and adding 89 runs for the third wicket. Delhi Capitals skipper Iyer fell for 43. Shaw was later joined by Pant. The pair added 54 runs for the 4th wicket. But it was Shaw's 99 runs that took the game away from the Knights.

Kuldeep after going for 33 runs in his first two overs made a strong comeback and gave

just three in his third and defended 6 runs in the last over.

It was a tie after 40 overs of madness. Prasidh was given the responsibility to bowl the super over. The over went for 10 runs and once again all came down to DK and Russell. Here's how the chase followed:

The team played their hearts out and showed a lot of character for the entire game and during the Super Over. We came close but just couldn't cross the line in our 3rd Super Over appearance. Our Knights will take full pride on the quality of cricket they've played as they face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday April 5 in Bengaluru.
