Kolkata Knight Riders’ bad phase in Vivo Indian Premier League 2019 continued as they suffered a 9-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. While the home team went ahead with no change, DK made three changes to the first eleven. Rinku Singh, KC Cariappa & Prithvi Raj Yarra replaced Robin Uthappa, Kuldeep Yadav & Prasidh Krishna.

Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn gave us a flying start. After 3 overs, we were 44 for 1. Khaleel took a few blows before getting the priced wicket of Sunil Narine. Shubman's stay didn't last long as Khaleel got him in the next over with his smart slower ones.

Middle overs stumble continued with the dismissal of Nitish Rana & Dinesh Karthik in consecutive overs. Chris Lynn and Rinku Singh added a valuable 51 runs partnership for the fifth wicket before the left-handed batsmen departed.

Lynn completed his half-century and Rinku worked hard for his 30 runs. Russell scored 15 runs in 9 balls which included two maximums as KKR managed 159 runs on board in their allotted 20 overs.

During SRH’s run chase, KKR paid heavy price due to sloppy fielding. Jonny Bairstow was dropped thrice when he was batting at 1, 55 and 58.

SRH openers made the most of the sloppy fielding and the inexperience of KKR bowling lineup. Warner-Baistow put up yet another 100 runs partnership. Yarra took his first IPL wicket as he dismissed Warner in the 13th over, but it was too late for any comeback with the damage already done.

Bairstow finished the chase with 4, 6, 6 off Chawla's bowling as SRH beat KKR with five overs to go and 9 wickets in hand.

It was a tough outing for KKR team at Uppal who'll be travelling back to Kolkata to play two home matches in a row against Rajasthan Royals (April 25) and Mumbai Indians (April 28).

Brief Score:
KKR: 159 for 8 in 20 Overs (Lynn 51, Rinku 30, Ahmed 3/33)
SRH: 161 for 1 in 15 Overs (Bairstow 80, Warner 67, Yarra 1/29)
