The Kolkata Knight Riders took on the Chennai Super Kings in a contest which promised to be a mouth-watering one with high stakes. The Eden Gardens was buzzing in anticipation as the two teams battled it out against each other. The Knights aimed to make it 3 out of 3 wins as every win took them closer to their chances in the playoffs. The fans were eager to get behind their Knights and cheer loud and proud. KKR opted to bat first after winning the toss. Despite not having the best of opening partnerships, KKR scored at a heavy rate in the powerplay, courtesy of some excellent batting from Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine. Both took the charge and put a lot of pressure on the opposition and powered KKR to 67 runs in the powerplay. Things slowed down a bit in the middle overs as KKR lost a few quick wickets but a resurgent innings from Manish Pandey alongside fireworks from Andre Russell got KKR back on the track. Due to their wonderful partnership, KKR posted 179 on the board, on a pitch that had enough assistance for the bowlers and looked to defend the total.

KKR began the defense of their total with absolute carnage as the duo of Vaibhav Arora and Moeen Ali picked two wickets in the first two overs. KKR took the charge of the game as they put a lot of pressure on the CSK batters. While CSK were scoring at a fast rate, they lost 5 wickets in the powerplay, courtesy of some tremendous bowling performances by KKR bowlers. KKR had the Super Kings reeling at 60-5 after the powerplay as they looked to seal victory. However, incredible performances from Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube put CSK back on track. Despite the best efforts of KKR, their partnership helped CSK cruise towards the total. KKR fought hard right till the end, they took it into the last over, yet CSK were able to pick up the win by 2 wickets. KKR will be aiming to assess this game and comeback strong in the next match.
