The result against Rajasthan Royals the other night didn't go in our favour. Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a slow start but were rescued by Skipper Dinesh Karthik's outstanding 97*.

The innings was full of character and came when we needed it the most. It was thrilling, inspiring and truly a DK SPECIAL. Here are more reasons to stand and applaud our captain's knock against RR:

Best T20 knock
DK’s 97 not out in 50 balls was his best ever T20 knock. His previous best was 86 (from 48 balls) that came when he was with MI in 2013. Six years later, he's only getting better with age.

KKR’s best innings in a decade
We are into the 12th season of Vivo IPL. With two titles in our cabinet, we have so many memories since our very first match since it all started. But did you know DK's 97* is the second highest score by any KKR player since Brendon McCullum's 158*.

4s, 6s & the count that went on and on
The innovation and different style of batting has made a huge impact in the way batsmen are scoring runs these days. It's all about bringing those new things to your game that help you score more runs in boundaries.

Out of 97 runs, 84.5% of the runs came from boundaries, personal best for a KKR player. DK’s knock included 7 fours and 9 sixes.

Captain's Knock
Halfway during the first innings, KKR were struggling at 49 for 3. The onus was on DK to take charge and he did it with style. Our skipper led from the front and kept our noses ahead till the last ball of KKR's innings.

Best in the death
DK scored 46 runs in the last 14 balls, scoring at a strike rate of 328.5. Now this even betters Andre Russell's overall strike rate of 256 in death overs this season. It goes on to show the firepower and his ability to switch gears.
