He has a tremendous record scoring runs on the big occasion against quality oppositions. Overall, he has 10 ODI centuries till date out of which five of them have come in ICC tournaments.

1. India vs South Africa (6 June 2013ICC Champions Trophy 2013) - 114 from 94 balls 

The pair of Shikhar Dhawan & Rohit Sharma opened together for the first time in the opening game of CT 2013 against South Africa. Dhawan took his time to settle by scoring 21 runs from the first 25 balls that he faced. After getting used to the conditions & the bowling attack, he started scoring freely & reached his fifty in 43 balls hitting 6 fours. He carried on the fine start & took the attack to the bowlers by reaching to his century in 80 balls & striking at 127.50. The left-handed batsman was dismissed for a fine knock of 114 that helped India post a total of 331.

 

2. India vs West Indies (11 June 2013, ICC Champions Trophy 2013) – 102* from 107 balls 

In the 2nd match of CT 2013, the Indian bowlers restricted West Indies to 233 from 50 overs. With no pressure to chase the target, Dhawan kept hitting the boundaries & rotating the strike to keep scoring at a brisk rate. He was fortunate to be in the middle as Roach misjudged a catch to hand him a lifeline. He made full use of the opportunity to notch up his 2ndsuccessive century in the tournament taking very few risks & making the target look pretty small. 

 

3India vs South Africa (22 February 2015, ICC Cricket World Cup) – 137 from 146 balls

Facing a strong South African bowling attack, Dhawan played another crucial innings at the top at Melbourne in World Cup 2015. It wasn’t the typical innings from him as he was scoring at a strike-rate of 84 to bring up his century off 122 balls. His innings ended on 137 that helped India post a healthy total against South Africa. 

 

4India vs Ireland (10 March 2015, ICC Cricket World Cup) – 100 from 85 balls

 

Chasing Ireland’s 259 runs, Dhawan took advantage of an early drop by Mooney & he made the let-off prove costly for Ireland. He got to his 50 from 54 balls & later on raced to his century scoring the next 50 runs from just 30 balls hitting a total of 11 fours & 5 sixes. 

 

5India vs Sri Lanka (08 June 2013, ICC Champions Trophy 2017) – 125 from 128 balls

Shikhar Dhawan started cautiously hitting four boundaries in his first 52 balls and scoring 38 runs. Playing the anchor role, he reached to his fifty in 69 balls that involved a lot of running. Dhawan found the boundaries regularly & rotated the strike well to get to his 10th ODI century with a four from 111 balls. The quality innings came to an end on 125 in tough conditions at The Oval.
