Chris Lynn's 'Bash Brother' Brendon McCullum has welcomed his move to step down as the Brisbane Heat captain in the Big Bash League after three successful seasons at the helm.

The 31-year-old Lynn took the decision in the wake of his return from the postponed Indian Premier League last month.

"I am very proud to have led the boys and I have really enjoyed my time as captain. I have thought long and hard about my decision, and I think it is the right time for someone else to take over the reins and keep building with this talented group of players," Lynn stated about his decision.

McCullum, who has led Brisbane Heat for two seasons and worked alongside Lynn closely at BBL and even at Trinbago Knight Riders for CPL, appreciated Lynn's decision and wrote on his Twitter page, "As always, much love Bash".

The duo are known for their camaraderie and have been often spotted chilling together outside the professional space too. They are called 'Bash Brothers' for their exploits in the Big Bash League.
