Steven Smith won the toss and opted to bat first on a track which didn't favour the bowlers much as M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru happens to be a small ground. It was a guaranteed high scoring match looking at the fire power both the team's had in their line-up.

Aaron Finch and David Warner gave the visitors an ideal start as both went on to add a mammoth 231 runs between them. This partnership daunted the confidence of the Indian bowlers. Kedar Jadhav gave India their first breakthrough in the form of David Warner (124), who departed after scoring his 14th ODI ton. Then, Travis Head came to bat ahead of Steven Smith. Right after David Warner's dismissal Umesh Yadav sent in-form Aaron Finch (94) packing. The hunger of picking up wickets motivated the speedster to strike again and this time he got rid of the big fish Steven Smith (3). Then a good little partnership bloomed between Travis Head (29) and Peter Handscomb (43). Virat Kohli went to Umesh Yadav once again and he delivered for his skipper by removing both these set batsmen. Though, the Aussies were not at all dejected looking at the scoreboard after their innings as they posted a healthy target of 334/5. Umesh Yadav (4/71) shone in his comeback match as he ended up with amazing figures.

Indian openers came out with all guns blazing as Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane did exactly what the doctor ordered. The hosts were off to a decent start as the pair added 106 runs on the board, post which Ajinkya Rahane (53) got out after notching up his 22nd ODI Fifty. Unfortunately, Rohit Sharma (65) and Virat Kohli (21) followed Ajinkya Rahane soon in the dressing room. Hardik Pandya and Kedar Jadhav kept the battle alive as they played their natural attacking game. The Aussies had a tough time bowling to them as they displayed some fireworks while their stay. Zampa got his revenge from Hardik Pandya (41) as he got rid of the danger man. Manish Pandey (33) played some smart cricketing shots but soon he and Kedar Jadhav (67) perished. MS Dhoni (13) gave his all in the middle but he couldn't take the hosts home.

Aussies registered their first win in the ongoing series by ending India's winning streak of 9 matches. India ended up making 313/8 in 50 overs as they lost the match by 21 runs. So far it's 3-1 with the final ODI to be played on Sunday, Nagpur.
