The much-anticipated clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings ended in a no contest as persistent rain forced the game to be called off, with no result declared. After being put to bowl first, KKR faced it tough initially to start off on a pitch which looked a belter to bat. The fast bowlers tried their best in order to keep the score in check and bowl tight lines. However, the PBKS openers got off to a fine start as they built a strong partnership. But as the ordeal of the season has been, KKR’s golden arm Andre Russell emerged as the partnership breaker yet again. Russell along with the spinners pulled things back for KKR as they restricted PBKS to a target of 201.

KKR looked to take the aggressive route from the outset in this important run-chase. However, just one over into the innings, the game was interrupted due to rain. The persistent rain resulted in the match being called off and both teams got a point each due to the washout. KKR now take on DC next in their away fixture in Delhi.
