Care for Children: Supporting Families Through Childhood Cancer Treatment
WHY WE CARE
A cancer diagnosis can place immense emotional, financial, and logistical strain on children and their families. Many families travel long distances from towns and villages to access specialized treatment, often struggling to find safe and affordable accommodation near hospitals. These challenges can add significant stress during an already difficult journey and may impact treatment continuity and overall well-being.
WHAT WE DO
Through our partnership with St. Jude India ChildCare Centres, we support the Premashraya Centre in Kolkata, providing children undergoing cancer treatment and their families with safe, hygienic, and cost-free accommodation close to the hospital.
Our support helps sustain essential services at the centre, including nutritious meals, counselling, educational and recreational activities, and dedicated staff who create a caring and supportive environment for families.
By offering a stable home-away-from-home during treatment, we help reduce the burden of long-term cancer care, support uninterrupted treatment, and enable children and their caregivers to focus on healing with dignity, hope, and comfort.
