KKR vs MI, Preview: Terrific Tuesday On Cards As Formidable Knights And Former Champs Clash

A clinical performance in the opening encounter helped the Kolkata Knight Riders register a 10-run victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.

After recording their 100th IPL win in the first game, Knight Riders now take on the Mumbai Indians for their second match of the season at the same venue.

The pace attack combo of Pat Cummins and Prasidh Krishna, along with some great death bowling from Andre Russell, were instrumental in restricting the opposition and also picking up crucial wickets to dent the scoring rate. And with the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Varun Chakravarthy and Harbhajan Singh in the ranks, the bowling attack looked pretty effective on a sluggish Chepauk wicket. Now, with all these positives drawn from the first match, Eoin Morgan & Co. look all set to face the defending champions, who in all likelihood will behave like a wounded tiger after encountering an opening game loss!

The Mumbai Indians will be coming into this game after being handed some tough times by Royal Challengers Bangalore. The team struggled to get going in the middle overs with the bat on the slow wicket at Chennai and set a below-par total in the first innings.

While their bowling unit has been heavily reliant on Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, lack of support from their lead spinner Rahul Chahar hampered their chances of defending a mediocre total. This may have dampened their spirit a little, but knowing the toughness of their squad, we can expect a cricketing feast for both teams on Tuesday!

KKR will have plenty of confidence to ride on going into the match and even though the head-to-head stats tilt towards Rohit Sharma's side (MI won 21 out of 27 encounters), it's never to too late to start bridging the gap! Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo!
