Indian cricket's massive depth on display! A record 24 players in action today

India, for the first time since the 1998 Commonwealth Games, are fielding two international cricket teams concurrently. While one of them is in Sri Lanka discharging their duty for limited-overs cricket, the other one is in the UK for Test cricket.

Tuesday marked an eventful day in Indian cricket as a record 24 Indian players were seen in action at the same time! While one team was playing the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo, another team was taking guard against County XI in Durham in a warm-up match ahead of India's fixture against England.

The amusing part was, two Indian players - Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar - were playing for County XI on the England and Wales Cricket Board's request while the likes of Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami were resting. That's the kind of depth and bench strength Indian cricket currently has at its disposal that despite fielding 24 high-quality international players, the stalwarts can still cool their heels!

Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer took to social media to appreciate India's bench strength and wrote, "What a time to be an Indian cricket fan! There are 24 players playing for India in an ODI and a FC game right now. And Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Ishant, Shami aren't in those 24. The depth is insane! PS: We have so many players that two are even playing for the opposition #SLvIND".

Much of the credit perhaps goes to Indian Premier League for producing talents from every nook and corner of the country each year!
