Day 3, Highlights: India take 95-run first innings lead over England on another rain-hit day

Rain hindered play once again as England finished on 25/0 in their 2nd innings after India took a 95-run first innings lead on Day 3 of the first Test match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Friday. At stumps, England were still trailing India by 70 runs, with Rory Burns (11*) and Dom Sibley (9*) holding the fort.

KL Rahul's 84 runs and Ravindra Jadeja's 56 set the tone of India's innings with a 60-run partnership. Mohammed Shami (13) and Jasprit Bumrah (28) added valuable runs in the end to stretch the total to 278 runs.

Starting on an overnight score of 125/4, India lost Rishabh Pant (25) after a few of his aggressive shots.

Jadeja played an extremely calculated innings, occasionally playing his natural attacking game to push India over England's total of 183.

Even though Ollie Robinson returned a fifer (5/85) and James Anderson bagged a four-fer (4/54), India's tail wagged long enough to frustrate the English bowlers.

Bumrah and Shami played quite a few good-looking cricketing shots to bring some cheer among the India supporters. Bumrah and Md Siraj's 33-run partnership off just 26 balls for the last wicket extended India's lead to 95 runs.
