Team India’s quest towards World Cup glory began with an Aussie challenge in the scorching Chepauk heat. The fans turned the stadium blue for the highly-anticipated clash between two of the strongest sides in the tournament. With massive home support, the belief of thousands of fans & a spring in their step, Team India began their campaign.

India were rocked early in the run-chase, losing both their openers quickly. However, Virat Kohli & KL Rahul stabilised the innings after the early wickets. The duo continued to rotate the strike and managing to score a boundary once in while. The partnership more or less sealed the deal for Team India, by putting together the 2nd highest 4th wicket partnership for India in the CWC. KL Rahul stayed unbeaten on 97 and smashed a six to power India to an epic victory. The Aussies made a run-chase that looked like a stroll in the park quite difficult for Team India but the class & composure of the Indian middle order made sure they reached the target comfortably. Team India will look to continue the winning ways and keep the momentum they’ve received after this victory.
