Robin Uthappa has been an integral part of Kolkata Knight Riders since he joined the team in 2014. Though Robin has seen his international career go through a number of ups and downs over the years, his stint in purple and gold has been consistently good.

He suggests that a sense of security and a feeling of being at home with the Knights is the secret to his success. "One of the biggest reasons for my success with KKR is that I'm loved and I'm given the security I need. It's very important that I made to feel at home. If that happens, runs come naturally," he told Wisden India.

Uthappa played an instrumental role in his maiden campaign for KKR in 2014. Not only did he win the orange cap for scoring the most number of runs (660), he also guided KKR to their second IPL title. While he couldn't match up to the same feat in the following three seasons, what has been remarkable is that he has been consistently doing justice to his role within the team. Despite not batting in his usual batting position of an opener, he scored 388 runs in 14 matches at an average of almost 30 in the 2017 edition..

"I've been with KKR for a long time and I know how they work,” he added. “I thought I was over Kolkata's budget at one point but they bid for me and I'm grateful to them because I've always wanted to stay put with one team for a long time."

KKR’s campaign in the Vivo IPL 2018 will depend a lot on their Uthappa, who has been appointed their vice captain for the season. KKR will get their campaign started against Bangalore on April 8.
