Using saliva to shine the ball - not anymore!
Cricket returns on July 8 after a COVID-19 hiatus, but players must now follow new ICC Regulations, which prohibit them from using Saliva to shine the ball. Fast bowlers traditionally use saliva to shine one side of the ball to control its swing. Maintaining shine on the ball is critical in long-form red-ball cricket, but not so much in shorter white-ball formats.
