Dre Russ returns to WI squad for 2019 World Cup

West Indies have recalled their explosive all-rounder Andre Russell to their 15-member Windies squad for ICC World Cup 2019 that will begin on May 30th in England and Wales.

Carlos Brathwaite was also named in a strong Windies lineup for the 12th edition of world cricket's biggest event.

Windies Team for the World Cup:
Jason Holder (C), Andre Russell, Ashley Nurse, Carlos Brathwaite, Chris Gayle, Darren Bravo, Evin Lewis, Fabian Allen, Kemar Roach, Nicholas Pooran, Oshane Thomas, Shai Hope, Shannon Gabriel, Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmyer

The two-time Champion Windies will start their World Cup campaign on 31st May against Pakistan in Nottingham.

All eyes will be on Andre Russell who last played international cricket in July 2018 against Bangladesh. He was since out of international fold due to injury.

The Jamaican all-rounder is fit and has been the biggest hit of Vivo IPL 2019. He has 392 runs to his name in nine innings at an average of 65.33 and strike rate of 217.77.

Carlos Brathwaite was a part of Windies ODI squad that played out a 2-2 draw earlier this year against England. He scored a half-century and took five wickets in the series.

Windies made it to the 10-team World Cup format through qualification. With the likes of explosive batsmen in Andre Russell, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer, the team will be one to look out for.
